This article outlines tutorlet’s revenue sharing plan for premium instructors. There is no fee to create and host a course on tutorlet, and you can publish as many free and paid courses as you like.

Instructor revenue share overview

While we encourage you to take a look at the Instructor Terms for additional information regarding tutorlet’s revenue share, a summary of the sharing plan for transactional sales is below.

Please note these are revenue shares on the Net Amount, which is the amount a student paid less any applicable taxes or fees, such as the 30% fee imposed by Apple or Google for sales on iOS and Android. A full definition of the Net Amount is available in our Instructor Terms.

  • Sales occurring through instructor promotions: instructors and contributors together receive 80% of the revenue when the student purchases their content using an instructor’s coupon or referral link. Where a content is produced by more than one instruc

  • Sales that do not occur through an instructor promotion: instructors and contributors receive 40% of the revenue for any Tutorlet sales where no instructor coupon or course referral link was used. These sales might occur after a user clicks on a Tutorlet advertisement, or browses the tutorlet platform for courses.

Please note:

  • The summary above outlines the revenue share between Tutorlet and instructors for a given sale. It does not factor in any additional revenue sharing between an instructor and his/her co-instructors for a given course.

Reporting

Instructors can track all incoming sales in their Revenue Report. Some of the information the report includes are the student name, the date of purchase, and the total price paid. Learn more about the instructor revenue report below.

3. Trust & Safety

3.1 Trust & Safety Policies

You agree to abide by tutorlet 's Trust & Safety policies, Restricted Topics policy, and other content quality standards or policies prescribed by tutorlet from time to time. You should check these policies periodically to ensure that you comply with any updates to them. You understand that your use of the Services is subject to tutorlet 's approval, which we may grant or deny at our sole discretion.

We reserve the right to remove content, suspend payouts, and/or ban instructors for any reason at any time, without prior notice, including in cases where:

  • an instructor or content does not comply with our policies or legal terms (including the Terms of Use);

  • content falls below our quality standards or has a negative impact on the student experience;

  • an instructor engages in behavior that might reflect unfavorably on tutorlet or bring tutorlet into public disrepute, contempt, scandal, or ridicule;

  • an instructor engages the services of a marketer or other business partner who violates tutorlet 's policies;

  • an instructor uses the Services in a way that constitutes unfair competition, such as promotion of their off-site business in a way that violates tutorlet 's policies; or

  • as determined by tutorlet in its sole discretion.

3.2 Co-Instructors and Teaching Assistants

The tutorlet platform allows you to add other users as co-instructors or teaching assistants for Submitted Content that you manage, and you are required to comply with our Co-Instructor Relationship Rules and Guidelines when taking such actions. By adding a co-instructor or teaching assistant, you understand that you are authorizing them to take certain actions that affect your tutorlet account and Submitted Content. Violations of tutorlet 's terms and policies by your co-instructor or teaching assistant may also impact your tutorlet account and Submitted Content. tutorlet is not able to advise on any questions or mediate any disputes between you and such users. If your co-instructors have an assigned revenue share, their share will be paid out of your earned revenue share based on the ratios you have specified in your registration, as of the date of the purchase.

3.3 Relationship to Other Users

Instructors don't have a direct contractual relationship with students, so the only information you'll receive about students is what is provided to you through the Services. You agree that you will not use the data you receive for any purpose other than providing your services to those students on the tutorlet platform, and that you won't solicit additional personal data or store students' personal data outside the tutorlet platform. You agree to indemnify tutorlet against any claims arising from your use of students' personal data.

3.4 Anti-Piracy Efforts

We partner with anti-piracy vendors to help protect your content from unauthorized use. To enable this protection, you hereby appoint tutorlet and our anti-piracy vendors as your agents for the purpose of enforcing copyrights for each of your content, through notice and takedown processes (under applicable copyright laws like the Digital Millennium Copyright Act) and for other efforts to enforce those rights. You grant tutorlet and our anti-piracy vendors primary authority to file notices on your behalf to enforce your copyright interests.

You agree that tutorlet and our anti-piracy vendors will retain the above rights unless you revoke them by sending an email to piracy@tutor-let.com with the subject line: "Revoke Anti-Piracy Protection Rights" from the email address associated with your account. Any revocation of rights will be effective 48 hours after we receive it.

4. Pricing

4.1 Price Setting

We assign prices to Submitted Content available for purchase on tutorlet  based on several factors. Alternatively, you may choose to offer your Submitted Content for free. As a premium instructor, you will also be given the opportunity to participate in certain promotional programs under the terms of our Promotions Policy ("Promotional Programs").

When a student purchases using a foreign currency, we will convert the relevant Base Price or Promotional Program price into the student's applicable currency using a system-wide foreign currency conversion rate set by tutorlet and fixed periodically into a table of corresponding price tiers by currency ("Price Tier Matrix"). Since the Price Tier Matrix is fixed, those conversion rates may not be identical to the applicable market rate in effect when a transaction is processed. We reserve the right to update the Price Tier Matrix at any time.

When a student purchases through a mobile application, the mobile platform provider's pricing matrix will control, and we will choose the price tier closest to the applicable Base Price or Promotional Program price. Because mobile platforms impose their own currency conversion rates, conversions for mobile app prices may not match the conversions in the Price Tier Matrix.

You give us permission to share your Submitted Content for free with our employees, with selected partners, and in cases where we need to restore access to accounts who have previously purchased your Submitted Content. You understand that you will not receive compensation in these cases.

4.2 Transaction Taxes

If a student purchases a product or service in a country that requires tutorlet to remit national, state, or local sales or use taxes, value added taxes (VAT), or other similar transaction taxes ("Transaction Taxes"), under applicable law, we will collect and remit those Transaction Taxes to the competent tax authorities for those sales. We may increase the sale price at our discretion where we determine that such taxes may be due. For purchases through mobile applications, applicable Transaction Taxes are collected by the mobile platform (such as Apple's App Store or Google Play).

4.3 Promotional Programs

tutorlet offers several marketing programs (Promotional Programs) as detailed in our Promotions Policy. These programs can help increase your revenue potential on tutorlet by finding the optimal price point for your Submitted Content and offering them through subscriptions collections.

5. Payments

5.1 Revenue Share

When a student purchases your Submitted Content, we calculate the gross amount of the sale as the amount actually received by tutorlet from the student ("Gross Amount"). From this, we subtract any Transaction Taxes, any mobile platform fees applied to mobile provider checkout sales, a 3% service and processing fee (except in Japan, where we subtract a 4% fee) for any non-mobile provider checkout sales, and any amounts paid to third parties in connection with the Promotional Programs to calculate the net amount of the sale ("Net Amount").

When we generate sales due to our own promoyional activities, your revenue share will be 40% of the Net Amount less any applicable deductions, such as student refunds. If we change this payment rate, we will provide you 30 days notice using prominent means, such as via email or by posting a notice through our Services.

If you opt into any of the Promotional Programs, the relevant revenue share may be different and will be as specified in the Promotions Policy.

tutorlet may opt to make all instructor payments in U.S. dollars (USD) or local currency depending on several factors. tutorlet is not responsible for your foreign currency conversion fees, wiring fees, or any other processing fees that you may incur. Your revenue report will show the sales price (in local currency) and your converted revenue amount (in USD).

5.2 Instructor Coupons and Course Referral Links

The tutorlet platform generates coupon codes and referral links to offer certain items of your Submitted Content to students at a discount, at tutorlet 's current price, or for free, as permitted within the Services. These coupon codes and referral links are subject to limits, and you may not sell them on third-party websites or otherwise offer them in exchange for compensation. Additional information and restrictions on these coupon codes and referral links are outlined in our Trust & Safety policies.

Where a student applies your coupon code or referral link at checkout, your revenue share will be 80% of the Net Amount less any applicable deductions, such as student refunds.

5.3 Receiving Payments

For us to pay you in a timely manner, you must own a PayPal or bank account in good standing and must keep us informed of the correct email associated with your account. You must also provide any identifying information or tax documentation necessary for payment of amounts due, and you agree that we have the right to withhold appropriate taxes from your payments. We reserve the right to withhold payments or impose other penalties if we do not receive proper identifying information or tax documentation from you. You understand and agree that you are ultimately responsible for any taxes on your income.

Depending on the applicable revenue share model, payment will be made within 45 days of the end of the month in which (a) we receive the fee for a course or (b) the relevant course consumption occurred.

We reserve the right not to pay out funds in the event of identified fraud, violations of intellectual property rights, or other violations of the law.

If we cannot settle funds into your payment account after the period of time set forth by your state, country, or other government authority in its unclaimed property laws, we may process the funds due to you in accordance with our legal obligations, including by submitting those funds to the appropriate government authority as required by law.

5.4 Refunds

You acknowledge and agree that students have the right to receive a refund, as detailed in the Terms of Use. Instructors will not receive any revenue from transactions for which a refund has been granted under the Terms of Use.

If a student asks for a refund after we have paid the relevant instructor payment, we reserve the right to either (1) deduct the amount of the refund from the next payment sent to the instructor or (2) where no further payments are due to the instructor or the payments are insufficient to cover the refunded amounts, require the instructor to refund any amounts refunded to students for the instructor's Submitted Content.

6. Trademarks

While you are a published instructor and subject to the requirements below, you may use our trademarks where we authorize you to do so.

You must:

  • only use the images of our trademarks that we make available to you, as detailed in any guidelines we may publish;

  • only use our trademarks in connection with the promotion and sale of your Submitted Content available on tutorlet or your participation on tutorlet; and

  • immediately comply if we request that you discontinue use.

You must not:

  • use our trademarks in a misleading or disparaging way;

  • use our trademarks in a way that implies that we endorse, sponsor, or approve of your Submitted Content or services; or

  • use our trademarks in a way that violates applicable law or in connection with an obscene, indecent, or unlawful topic or material.

7. Deleting Your Account

Upon receipt of request to delete your account, we'll use commercially reasonable efforts to make any remaining scheduled payments that are owed to you before deleting your account. You understand that if students have previously enrolled in your Submitted Content, your name and that Submitted Content may remain accessible to those students after your account is deleted. If you need help with deleting your account, you can contact us via our website chat.

8. Miscellaneous Legal Terms

8.1 Updating These Terms

From time to time, we may update these Terms to clarify our practices or to reflect new or different practices (such as when we add new features), and tutorlet reserves the right in its sole discretion to modify and/or make changes to these Terms at any time. If we make any material change, we will notify you using prominent means such as by email notice sent to the email address specified in your account or by posting a notice through our Services. Modifications will become effective on the day they are posted unless stated otherwise.

Your continued use of our Services after changes become effective shall mean that you accept those changes. Any revised Terms shall supersede all previous Terms.

Assistants And Co-instructors

Tutorlet courses can have more than one instructor, as co-instructors if they contributed to the course development and would be added in the revenue sharing process.

Table of contents

How co-instructors/assistants work.

The preparation of a course involves the written part, the voiceover and the addition of graphics/pictures/animations. There may be instances where an instructor is not able to do only one or two of these and might need help with completing the lesson content. In that regard, the instructor might involve a third party for help, or in most case we are able to link get other interested parties to help in finishing up the work.

Assigning revenue share to a co-instructor

For paid courses, revenue shares are assigned to co-instructors through their filled forms and the percentage would be determined by which aspect(s) of the content development the co-instructor took on. You are to show what percentage of your pay should go to the co-instructor.

  • Once an instructor or a co-instructor is designated to receive a revenue share, they will have access to the Revenue Report for all new purchases of the course and will see their share generated in the “Your Revenue” column on the report.

  • For K-12 instructors, the co-instructor's revenue share is determined by the portion of work they completed, whether written, voiceover, graphics/pictures or a combination of more than one of these. The sum of all instructor shares must add up to 100%.

For more information about the revenue shar among K-12 instructors, visit here.

Removing your co-instructor

Co-instructors brought in by an instructor, can be removed from a course by officially writing to our support team.

Tutorlet K-12 Content Quality Checklist

This article includes a checklist of the minimum requirements a course must have in order for it to be published on the Tutorlet platform. In addition, it also includes guidelines and resources instructors can use to improve the quality of their courses, and enhance the learning experience of students!

The minimum course requirements checklist

Below is a checklist of the minimum standards a course must have in order for it to be published on the Tutorlet platform.

  • Video length: We don't have a restricted length for the topic videos. It should be enough to exhaust the topic.

  • Each video is used to teach a topic of a subject.

  • Every subtopic in the syllabus must be taught extensively and qualitatively.

  • Their should be review questions at the end of each lesson.

  • We usually request for editable copies of the video content to enable enhancement when and where necessary.

  • HD video quality (720p or 1080p).

    • Note: Videos exceeding an aspect ratio of 16:9 will automatically be re-modified to 16:9 by our system. If the resulting quality of the video is poor, the video may be rejected by our Quality Review Team.

  • Audio that comes out of both channels and is synced to video

  • Audio quality that is not distracting to students.

Tutorlet's Quality Review Process

What is the Quality Review Process?

At Tutorlet, our mission is to help anyone learn virtually. In order to ensure that students have great learning experiences, we have a Quality Review Process in place that every course goes through.

Once your course is completely ready, you need to submit your course for review to enter the course into Tutorlet’s Quality Review Process. Learn more about submitting your course for review.

After you submit your course for review,  Tutorlet’s Quality Review Team will evaluate your course and provide feedback on all the items in our Course Quality Checklist. Once your course passes, it will be published for anyone to discover in the Tutorlet platform. Until then, your course will not be discoverable in the platform.

What You Need to Know

  • All courses will be reviewed based on the Course Quality Checklist.

  • Required items on the list are required to pass the Quality Review Process.

  • Recommended items on the list are highly recommended, as our research has shown these factors to significantly impact student satisfaction. While they are not required to pass the Quality Review Process, they are typically the factors that distinguish the great courses from the rest.

  • Your course must pass the Quality Review Process in order to be published in the Tutorlet platform.

  • You can submit your course for review by emailing it to us on support@tutor-let.com

  • The Quality Review Process takes 2 business days.

Course Review Time

The Quality Review Team will review your course based on our Course Quality Checklist. After your course is added to the Quality Review Team queue, you should receive a reply within 2 business days.

Check Course Feedback

The Quality Review Team will give feedback on the course feedback page, and they will inform you whether the course has been approved, or if it requires fixes.

Approved

If the Quality Review Team does not identify any required fixes, your course will be live and published in the platform.

Please review any recommendations the team has provided on how to improve student course satisfaction. Action on this type of feedback, however, is not required.

Needs Fixes

If your course requires fixes, then it is not live on the Tutorlet platform. To publish the course, please make any required changes, mark them as fixed and resubmit the course for review.

We will show you how you can view the review team’s feedback, and how you can mark required changes as fixed or respond to the review team directly.

Questions About Your Review

Promotions Policy

This Promotions Policy (“Policy”) includes information about methods that Tutorlet instructors can use to promote their content, including instructor coupons, course referral links, and Tutorlet’s optional marketing programs. This Policy is incorporated by reference into our Terms of Use and Instructor Terms. Any capitalized terms that aren’t defined in this Policy are defined as specified in the Terms of Use or Instructor Terms.

Any version of this Policy in a language other than English is provided for convenience and you understand and agree that the English language will control if there is any conflict.

1. How the Promotional Programs Work

Tutorlet offers premium instructors the opportunity to participate in Promotional Programs, which you can opt into through the Promotional Agreements page of your instructor settings or by a written agreement (including by email) between you and Tutorlet for certain programs, as detailed below. The specific programs offered may change from time to time.

Not all Discounts or programs will be available in all geographic territories or for all Tutorlet content. Tutorlet has sole discretion to determine which content to offer as part of the Promotional Programs and to set or update sale prices. Tutorlet may remove any of your content from the Promotional Programs at any time and in its sole discretion, with or without notice to you.

The discount amounts referenced below are approximate, as the actual discount may be slightly higher due to rounding and currency conversion. Tutorlet does not guarantee any minimum level of success in connection with the Promotional Programs.

2. Tutorlet Discounts Program

The Tutorlet Discounts Program helps increase your revenue potential by enabling Tutorlet to offer your content at a compelling discount as part of targeted promotions, as well as to optimize your list price. The Discounts Program allows Tutorlet to offer your content to students at a discounted price or list. For clarity, Tutorlet determines prices using economic factors such as purchasing power, rather than employing a direct currency conversion.

Where a sale to a Tutorlet reseller or distributor results in a sale price for your content that is lower than permitted by this Policy, Tutorlet will calculate your revenue share based on a Gross Amount permitted by this Policy.

Discounts Programs may be promoted through the Services, user communications, or third-party platforms, and the duration of the Discounts may vary.

You can opt out of the Discounts Program at any time. However, your content will remain subject to any applicable sales, campaigns, or promotions that are already active at the time you opt out, until those sales, campaigns, or promotions are completed.

3. Tutorlet Subscription Program

Premium instructors may also participate in our subscription program (“Tutorlet Subscription Program”), subject to the additional terms in this section. The Tutorlet Subscription Program consists of Tutorlet’s subscription-based content collections available to individual consumers and business customers, including private, public, non-profit, and government organizations (“Subscription Customers”), featuring a select group of Tutorlet’s top content for professional and personal development skills.

By opting into the Tutorlet Subscription Program, you agree to make all of your content eligible for inclusion in Tutorlet’s subscription-based content collections. We may elect whether to select your content for inclusion in any collection, including any add-on, variation, or subset of that collection, and may change the selection from time to time at our sole discretion.

Because the collections are subscription-based, we may select sale prices and offer free trials at our discretion.

If you’ve agreed to provide any Assessment Questions (as defined below), you are also subject to the additional terms in Section 4 (Assessments).

Instructors who have previously opted into the “Tutorlet Subscription Program” are subject to the terms of this section.

3.1 Revenue Share

By participating in the Tutorlet Subscription Program, you agree that for each collection, your revenue share will be calculated as follows:

  1. Each month, Tutorlet will calculate the total monthly subscription fees paid to Tutorlet on behalf of all current Subscription Customers of such collection minus any applicable Transaction Taxes, foreign exchange fees, and third-party fees, such as reseller, promotion, distribution, or payment processing fees.

  2. Twenty-five percent (25%) of this amount will be allocated to instructors participating in such collection ("Instructor Revenue Pool") as further described below.

  3. Each month, Tutorlet will calculate the total minutes of content (including course videos, quizzes, practice tests, and coding exercises) in such collection consumed by all current Subscription Customers through their subscription to such collection ("Total Minutes Consumed"). For clarity, the Total Minutes Consumed does not include any consumption by access through a free trial.

  4. Each month, Tutorlet will also calculate how many of the Total Minutes Consumed are attributable to each of your items of content that was included in such collection that month ("Your Content Minutes").

  5. To calculate your revenue share each month, Tutorlet will divide the Instructor Revenue Pool by the Total Minutes Consumed, then multiply that per-minute amount by Your Content Minutes.

As Tutorlet makes additional types of content (such as assessments and labs) available through the collections, we may update subsection (3) above to specify additional types of content that will be included in the calculations to determine the Total Minutes Consumed and Your Content Minutes.

3.2 Exclusivity

Except as otherwise provided for Assessment Questions below, once your content is included in a collection, you agree that you will not begin to offer any on-demand content, such as pre-recorded courses, that directly compete with or injure the sales of that content on any site or platform other than your own. For clarity, this doesn’t include literary works or in-person instructional trainings. If you choose to terminate your participation in the Tutorlet Subscription Program, you agree that this exclusivity provision will remain in place until we remove your content from all collections.

3.3 Termination

You can choose to terminate your participation in the Tutorlet Subscription Program at any time by emailing info@tutorletglobal.com. Tutorlet will remove your content from the collections within 12 months of termination and will continue to pay you revenue share based on the then-current rates until your content is removed from the relevant collection.

Once your content is removed for any reason from a collection, Subscription Customers will no longer be able to enroll in your content and you will no longer earn revenue share from that collection. However, any individual end user who previously enrolled in your content will continue to be able to access that content for as long as they remain subscribed to the relevant collection.

4. Assessments

Tutorlet’s assessments (“Assessments”) consist of question and answer pairs with explanations (each, an “Assessment Question”) to measure proficiency and learning across certain topics, skills, domains, or occupations. Assessments are made available by Tutorlet as a standalone content type, separate from courses. For clarity, practice tests, quizzes, coding exercises, and labs are not considered Assessments or Assessment Questions.

By providing an Assessment Question, as mutually agreed between us in writing (including by email), you agree to the terms in this section.

We may elect whether to select your Assessment Question for inclusion on tutor-let.com or in the Tutorlet Subscription Program, and may change that selection from time to time and at our sole discretion. If your Assessment Question is included in the Tutorlet Subscription Program, then you will be subject to the terms relevant to that program above.

You agree that your Assessment Questions will comply with all criteria as may be agreed in writing (including by email) by you and Tutorlet, such as the topic, format, domain, difficulty level, and quantity.

By providing your Assessment Question, you grant Tutorlet an exclusive license to use, copy, reproduce, distribute, display, publish, and prepare derivative works of your Assessment Question. You agree that you will not make your Assessment Question available to others (including through your own site or platform) or license or permit any third party to do so.

You may choose to terminate your license of an Assessment Question at any time by emailing instructorsupport@Tutorlet.com. Tutorlet will remove your Assessment Question from the Services within 12 months of termination and will continue to pay you any relevant revenue share based on the then-current rates until your Assessment Question is removed from the relevant portion of the Services.

5. Modifications

We may update this Policy from time to time to clarify our practices or to reflect new or different practices. If we make any material change, we will notify you using prominent means such as by email notice sent to the email address specified in your account or by posting a notice through our Services. Modifications will become effective on the day they are posted unless stated otherwise.

Marketing your course

After you publish, get your first ratings and reviews to give your course a boost in the platform.

Engage with your learners

Being an instructor is about more than just publishing a course. It’s important that you build a connection with your learners through a virtual setting. Successful instructors are more than just content creators, they spend time interacting with their learners. We encourage you to build a base of loyal learners. Reach out to them for feedback, respond to their questions or reviews, and interact with them to help you improve your course.

Ways to connect with your learners

There are several ways to communicate directly with your learners. You can create announcements and promotional emails, send direct messages, and interact with learners in the Q&A forum in your course.

Educational announcements

Educational announcements are meant to activate and re-engage your learners to bring them back to your course. Use them to send updates about your course or share free resources related to your course topic to supplement the course material. Announcements are sent by emails and also show up on our website.

You can send up to 4 announcements per month and should only feature free resources related to your course material (Tutorlet links are not allowed). Do not direct learners to promotional material as that is a violation of our policy. Learn more about our rules for educational announcements.

Here are some tips for writing educational announcements:

  • Include a contest or call-to-action and challenge learners to finish certain lectures or sections of the course

  • Inspire your learners with news from the field and keep them engaged with the subject matter

  • Let learners know when you’ve updated or added content to your course, your investment in the course will grab their attention

Promotions

Use promotional announcements to market your new courses to your existing learners or to share coupon codes for your existing course that people can forward onto their friends and family.

You can send promotional emails up to twice a month for each of your courses. Promotional emails should include links to your Tutorlet courses (external links are not allowed). Learn more about rules for promotional announcements.

Here are some tips for writing promotional announcements:

  • For promotional purposes, you may want to send a series of emails to build up the interest. For example, to announce the launch of a new course, send a 2-email sequence over the course of a week to your existing Tutorlet learner list

  • You can even include a discount if you’re feeling generous. But don’t forget to set a promotional deadline and mention it clearly.

  • Run a seasonal sale or temporary deal in conjunction with a holiday

  • Quote real learner feedback (after asking for permission) about the courses you want to promote

Best practices for subject lines

A clear and compelling subject line can draw the attention of your students and prompt them to open and read your messages. Follow these rules to write impactful subject lines for your announcement and promotional emails:

  • Keep it short and concise

  • Don’t write your subject lines in all capital letters

  • Avoid subject lines with exclamation marks or phrases

  • Give your learners a compelling reason to open the email but avoid overused words that may trigger spam filters like free, sale, % off. Instead, use the occasion or time of year (birthday, a personal achievement, or a holiday)

  • Consider framing subject lines as questions to build curiosity

  • Avoid using the same subject lines multiple times. This might make your learners lose interest in your emails

  • Test different subject lines

Opting out of the Tutorlet as a published instructor

If you choose to opt out of the Tutorlet Program after your course has been published, it may take up to 3 months for it to stop being offered on the Tutorlet site. This 3-month period helps ensure we honour sales and discounts that have already been offered to students in active campaigns.

In addition to on-site promotions, please note that Tutorlet employs a variety of other marketing channels for instructors in the Discount Program (including emails, paid ads, affiliate marketing). It may take some time after your opt-out date before your courses are no longer promoted via these channels, but your courses will no longer be offered on the Tutorlet site 3 months after your opt-out date.

Please note that this will also affect your course's participation in external promotions such as search ads, social media placements, or retargeting.

Below are answers to the most frequently asked questions we receive regarding the teaching experience on Tutorlet and becoming a Tutorlet instructor.

How do I register as a Tutorlet instructor?

Learn how to set up your instructor account.

Can I teach a course on any topic?

You are free to choose the topic you wish to teach on Tutorlet and by using our Platform Insights tool, you can learn more about demand for that topic (see below).

Please refer to our restricted topics list, however, for details on the topics that we do not accept.

Can you tell me more about the existing demand for my course topic on Tutorlet?

With our Platform Insights tool, we offer robust reporting on student demand, search volume, and revenue for a particular topic to help you decide what course to teach. If no data exists for a topic you’re searching, it likely means that there’s an opportunity to fill this gap in the Tutorlet platform and you should get started right away.

While success as an instructor on Tutorlet is not guaranteed, this tool offers some powerful data to help you make your decision.

Note: currently the Platform Insights tool can only search for course topics that are entered in English. Please enter English words in the search box.

Do I have to pay any fees in order to become an instructor?

There is no fee to be an instructor on Tutorlet. Instructors are paid according to a revenue share model.

Learn more about Tutorlet’s instructor revenue share.

What approval do I need to get started as an instructor?

No approval is needed to get started. Before an instructor can publish a course on the Tutorlet platform, however, they need to complete the instructor identity verification process.

In order to create paid courses, instructors will need to set up a payment method for their account (see "How will I get Paid" below).

Are there any requirements that my course must meet?

Yes. Courses must have at least 30 minutes of video content and at least 5 lectures or learning modules.

In order to ensure that students have great learning experiences, we also have a Quality Review Process that every course goes through.

Learn more about our course quality checklist and our quality review process.

How will I get paid?

Instructors can use PayPal, Bank Account or mobile money (Ghana only) to receive their payments. You are paid on a monthly basis (more details on our payment schedule for instructors can be read here).

What’s the general structure of a Tutorlet course? What is the primary teaching method?

A standard Tutorlet course is video-based. Additional teaching tools (like assignments, quizzes, and coding exercises, etc) can be added to create a rich learning experience for students.

For courses regarding certification preparation, we also offer instructors the ability to create a Practice Test course

How do I create a Tutorlet course?

How do I get my course materials on your site?

Since we function primarily as an on-demand, video-based platform, we’ll need to upload your video files directly to Tutorlet. In other words, students must be able to view your course lectures on the Tutorlet platform.

In addition to our standard lecture uploader, we offer the ability to upload materials in bulk. Learn more about our bulk file uploader.

Does Tutorlet retain exclusive rights to my course if I sell it on your platform?

No. Our platform model means that when you publish a course on our platform, you retain all the rights to your content.  You simply grant us a license to host the course and make it available to our users, and to advertise your course on our platform and on third party services.

These license terms are outlined in detail in Tutorlet’s instructor terms. You can also offer your course on other services, but we ask that your course is never offered for a lower price than on Tutorlet. Note that if your course is included in the  Tutorlet Business content collection, per the Promotions Policy, there may be additional distribution restrictions.

Will Tutorlet promote my course?

As an instructor, your course could have the option to enroll in the Tutorlet Discounts Program. Every year, millions of students enroll in courses that are selected for promotion and discounted through the Tutorlet  Discounts Program.

Learn more about the  Tutorlet Discount Program.

In addition, we provide instructors with extensive articles, resources and features at Tutorlet to help you effectively market your course(s). Review resources on how to market your course.
